Short answer: To create a Facebook event for your business, switch into your Page, open Events and click Create new event. Choose a name, a date and time and whether it’s in person or virtual, add the details and click Create Event. Events hosted by Pages are always public.

What a Page event is

A Page event belongs to your business Page, not to your personal profile. Facebook says all events hosted by Pages are public, and that you can’t change an event’s privacy setting after you create it.

An event can be in person or virtual, happen once or repeat, and keeps its own page where guests see the details and can post. If your business doesn’t have a Page yet, our guide to creating a Facebook business page covers that first step.

Event When it fits Good to know
In person An open house, a class or a launch at your place Add the address and the details guests need
Online, Facebook Live A talk or a demo for more than 50 guests Facebook suggests it above 50 guests
Online, external link A webinar or a call that happens off Facebook Put what guests need in the description
Recurring A weekly class or an event over several days Daily or weekly, up to 52 times; on Android, set it up on a computer

Our own summary of the event pages in the Facebook Help Center, read on November 6, 2026.

How to create an event from your Page

  1. Log into Facebook, click your profile photo in the top right and select See all profiles.
  2. Select the Page you want to switch into.
  3. From your Feed, click Events in the left menu; you may need to click See more first.
  4. Click + Create new event on the left.
  5. Choose an event name, date and time, and whether the event is In person or Virtual.
  6. Enter the event information below What are the details?
  7. Click Create Event.

In the Facebook app, tap Menu in the top left, tap Options and select your Page, then open Events and tap Create new event. After the name and the start date and time, you choose Virtual or In person and follow the steps on screen.

Online and recurring events

For a virtual event, Facebook offers three formats. Facebook suggests Facebook Live for events with more than 50 guests. An external link fits an event that happens off Facebook, and Other asks you to explain clearly how people join.

For an event that repeats or runs over several days, turn on Repeat event when you create it, choose Daily or Weekly and set the end date and time. Facebook offers it on a computer and in the iPhone app; on Android it sends you to a computer. A Page event can recur up to 52 times, and once it has started you can’t edit its location or time zone.

Edit, cancel or delete an event

To change an event on a computer, click Events, then Your Events and Hosting, open the event and click Edit. In the app, open the event, tap Manage, then Edit, and save your changes. You can change the name, the type, the location, the online format, and the date and time up to a couple of days before the event. You can’t change the privacy, the setting that lets guests invite friends or the ticket cost.

Cancel and delete are not the same. If you cancel, you can’t make more changes, but people can still post in the event. If you delete it, it can’t be restored, everything in it is removed and the people you invited who haven’t declined get a notification.

A public event can also be shared as a post and boosted. Our guide to boosting a post on Facebook explains how that works and why a boost can be blocked.

Before you publish the event

  • You switched into your business Page, not your profile.
  • The name says what happens and the date and time are right.
  • You chose In person or Virtual and added the details guests need.
  • A virtual event explains clearly how to join.
  • A repeating event is set up as recurring, with its end date.
  • Someone is ready to answer the questions guests post.

RememberCreate the event from your business Page, so it’s public and tied to your brand. Use a recurring event for repeating dates, and cancel rather than delete if you want guests to keep the conversation.

Quick answers about Facebook events

Are Facebook Page events public?

Yes. Facebook says all events hosted by Pages are public. It also notes that an event’s privacy setting can’t be changed after you create it, so a Page event stays public.

How many times can a Facebook event repeat?

A recurring Page event can repeat daily or weekly, up to 52 times. You turn on Repeat event on a computer or in the iPhone app, and once the event has started you can’t edit its location or time zone.

Which kind of online event should I choose?

Facebook offers Facebook Live, an external link or another format. It suggests Facebook Live for events with more than 50 guests, and an external link when the event happens off Facebook.

What is the difference between canceling and deleting an event?

If you cancel, you can no longer change the event, but people can still post in it. If you delete it, it can’t be restored, everything is removed and invited people who haven’t declined get a notification.

Can I change an event after I create it?

Yes. Open Events, go to the event you host and choose Edit, then save. The date and time can change up to a couple of days before the event, but the privacy, the guest invite setting and the ticket cost can’t change.
