Short answer: On Instagram, go to Edit profile, tap Links and add up to 5 websites. On TikTok you can add a website link once you have at least 1,000 followers or a Verified Business Account. Put the most important link first and send people straight to the page you want them to see.
What “link in bio” means for a business
When a post says “link in bio”, it sends people to the links on your profile. On Instagram, those links show in your bio, whose text can be up to 150 characters long. Anyone can see your bio, and anyone on or off Instagram can see your websites.
For a business, that link is where a post can lead to a sale, a booking or a form. If you still use a personal account, our guide to Instagram business accounts explains how to switch.
How to add links to your Instagram profile
- In the Instagram app, tap Profile or your profile picture in the bottom right.
- Tap Edit profile at the top of the screen.
- Tap Links.
- Tap Add external link and add the URL of your website.
- Tap Done, then tap Back.
- To change the order, tap Options in Links, then Reorder links, and drag each link up or down.
- To remove a link, tap it and then tap Remove link.
To edit the text of your bio, tap Bio in the same Edit profile screen. If you have a Facebook profile, you can also add a link to it from Links once your Instagram account is in Accounts Center. That works only in the Instagram app for Android or iPhone. Instagram shows that Facebook link as the first website in your bio.
How to add a link to your TikTok profile
TikTok lets you add a website link to your profile if you have at least 1,000 followers or a Verified Business Account. Our guide to TikTok business accounts explains how to get the Verified Business Account. In the TikTok app, tap Profile at the bottom, then Edit profile, then Add next to Links, and follow the steps.
TikTok no longer supports links that open other social media apps or log you into them. You can still add a link to the website of those platforms. TikTok also limits how people browse chains of external links inside its in-app browser. People may see a message asking them to open the page in their device’s web browser. TikTok recommends direct links, so people reach the site in a few steps.
Your link on Threads
On Threads you can update your bio and your links, among other details of your profile. From a computer, click Profile on the left, then Edit profile, and click Bio or Link. Make your change, click Done in the top right, then click Done again to save it.

How to make your link work for the business
Send people straight to the page that matches what you post: the service, the offer or the booking form, not only your home page. A direct link also keeps you clear of the link chains TikTok limits.
Add tracking tags to each link so you can see in your analytics which profile brings visits. Our guide to UTM parameters shows how to build them. On Instagram, use Reorder links to put the link that matters most at the top.
Before you share “link in bio”
- Your bio says in a few words what you sell and where.
- The first link goes to the page you want people to see.
- Every link opens the right page and loads on a phone.
- Each link carries its own tracking tags.
- Your TikTok link goes straight to the site, not through a chain of links.
- Old offers and dead pages are gone from your links.
RememberInstagram takes up to 5 links from Edit profile, and TikTok takes a website link from 1,000 followers or with a Verified Business Account. Send people straight to the right page, and tag each link so you know where your visits come from.
If you’d rather hand this off, our social media management service can plan, design and publish your posts on Instagram, TikTok and Facebook, in Spanish or English. Send us a WhatsApp or fill in the form.
