Short answer: Google’s standards for Business Profile photos are JPG or PNG files between 10 KB and 5 MB, 720 by 720 pixels recommended and 250 by 250 at least. Your logo and your cover photo are two of the photo types Google lists, so the same standards apply. To add photos on a computer, search for your business’s name and city on Google Search or Maps and click Photos. They show on Google only after your profile is verified, and new ones can take 24 to 48 hours to appear.
Photo size and format
Google’s help lists these standards for the photos and videos on a Business Profile:
| What | Google’s standard |
|---|---|
| Format | JPG or PNG |
| File size | Between 10 KB and 5 MB |
| Resolution | 720 by 720 pixels recommended, 250 by 250 at least |
| Quality | In focus and well lit, with no significant alterations or excessive use of filters or AI |
| Videos | Up to 30 seconds and 75 MB, at 720p or higher |
Google’s help gives no separate size for the logo or the cover photo: both are listed as types of photos.

Logo, cover photo and business photos
- Logo. It helps customers recognize your business on Google. When the profile has its basic information, such as a phone number or opening hours, Google highlights the logo.
- Cover photo. It sits at the top of your profile. Setting one doesn’t guarantee it will be the first image Google shows.
- Business photos. Different photos that show what your business offers, to attract and inform customers.

How to add photos to your Google Business Profile
Your photos and videos show on Google only after you verify your Business Profile. If yours isn’t verified yet, start with how to verify your Google Business Profile. Then sign in to the Google Account linked to the profile and, on a computer:
- Open Google Search or Google Maps.
- Search for your business’s name and city.
- Click Photos and then Add photos.
- Select your photos or videos. You can choose several at once.
On a phone, open the Google Maps app and tap Business at the bottom right. Tap More and Add photo, select your photos and tap Done. To finish, tap Publish at the bottom right on an iPhone, or Post at the top right on Android.
Your newest photos appear first on the profile. If you can’t find one you uploaded, check that it isn’t a duplicate and upload it again. Businesses with 10 or more locations can upload photos in bulk with a spreadsheet.

Add or change your logo and cover photo
On a computer, search for your business’s name and city on Google Search or Maps. Click Photos and then Add a cover photo or Add a logo. If you already have one, the options are Change cover and Change logo. Then select your photo.
In the Google Maps app, tap Business, then More and Cover photo or Logo. Select your photo and tap Publish or Post, as with any other photo.
If your logo doesn’t appear, Google says to check that the profile has its name, a valid location with a street address, categories, a phone number and opening hours. Google may also show a photo a user submitted instead of your cover photo: it happens when the cover is low quality, or other sources suggest it isn’t the best photo of your business.

Which photos to add
Google’s tips list photo types by kind of business, each with a minimum number:
| Photo type | What Google suggests | At least |
|---|---|---|
| Exterior | Each direction customers approach from, at different times of day | 3 |
| Interior | The atmosphere and decor, as a customer sees them | 3 |
| Products | Your most popular items, evenly lit | 3 |
| At work | Your team providing your services | 3 |
| Team | Your management team and employees | 3 |
| Food and drink | Your most popular dishes or drinks | 3 |
| Common areas | Each one, such as a spa, gym or breakfast room | 1 each |
| Rooms | Your most popular guest rooms | 3 |
If you have no storefront and work at your customers’ homes or offices, start with the photos at work and of your team: they show who comes and what they do.

Pending, not approved or live
Google reviews every photo and video you upload against its photos and videos policies. Each one shows a status:
- Pending. It’s still uploading or processing, or your profile isn’t verified. Customers don’t see it on Google Search or Maps.
- Not approved. It was flagged for breaking a policy, so it doesn’t show on Google Search or Maps.
- Live. Customers see it on Search and Maps.
New photos and videos can take 24 to 48 hours to show on your profile. On Google Search, each photo shows its source and total views in the bottom left corner.

Remove a photo, or report one a customer added
To remove a photo you added, search for your business on Google Search or Maps, click Photos, select the photo, click Delete and confirm with Delete. In the Google Maps app, tap Business, See Business Profile and Photos, and select it. On an iPhone, tap More and Delete this photo. On Android, tap Delete at the top right. Then confirm.
Customers can add photos too, and you can’t stop them. If one breaks Google’s policies, report it. On Google Search, go to your Business Profile and select Photos and View all photos. Select the photo and, at the bottom right, Report a problem. Choose a reason, such as “Privacy concern” or “Not a photo or video of the place”, and select Submit. The review can take several business days, and sending several requests for the same photo can delay it.
Customers can also post photo updates: one or more photos, with or without text. You find them only in the Google Maps app, under Business, See Business Profile, Updates and By visitors, where you can reply or report one with More and Report. Their photos also appear in the Photos tab on every platform. Your own updates go in the By owner section, and our guide on Google Business Profile posts explains them.

Before you upload
- Each file is a JPG or PNG between 10 KB and 5 MB, at 720 by 720 pixels or more.
- The photos are real, in focus and well lit, without heavy filters or AI changes.
- Your profile is verified, or new photos stay pending.
- The profile has its name, categories, phone number and hours, so the logo can show.
- You have at least three photos of each type that fits your business.
- You know how to report a customer photo that breaks Google’s policies.
RememberUpload real photos as JPG or PNG files of 720 by 720 pixels or more. Add your logo and cover photo from Photos, and give them 24 to 48 hours to show. You can delete the photos you added, but the ones customers add can only be reported.

Quick answers about Google Business Profile photos
What size should Google Business Profile photos be?
Google’s standards are JPG or PNG files between 10 KB and 5 MB, with a recommended resolution of 720 by 720 pixels and a minimum of 250 by 250. Photos should be in focus and well lit, without significant alterations or heavy filters. The logo and the cover photo are photo types, with no separate size in Google’s help.
How do I add a logo to my Google Business Profile?
On a computer, search for your business’s name and city on Google Search or Maps, click Photos and then Add a logo. In the Google Maps app, tap Business, More and Logo. If the logo doesn’t show, check that the profile has its name, a valid location with a street address, categories, a phone number and opening hours.
Why aren’t my photos showing on Google?
Photos stay pending while they upload or process, and while the profile isn’t verified. Photos flagged for breaking a policy aren’t approved and don’t show. New photos can take 24 to 48 hours to appear. If one is missing, check that it isn’t a duplicate and upload it again.
Can I delete photos that customers added to my profile?
Not directly. You can’t stop customers from posting photos, but you can report one that breaks Google’s policies: open Photos, View all photos, select it and choose Report a problem. The review can take several business days, and repeated requests for the same photo can delay it.
Why isn’t my cover photo the first image on my profile?
Setting a cover photo doesn’t guarantee that Google shows it first. Google says it may pick a photo a user submitted instead when the cover is low quality, or when other sources suggest it isn’t the best photo of your business. A sharp, well-lit photo of your business helps.
