Short answer: In Meta Business Suite, the place that holds your Facebook Page, Instagram account, ad account and pixel, with the people who work on them, is a business portfolio. Many people still search for it as Facebook Business Manager. To create one, go to business.facebook.com, open the menu under Home and select Create a business portfolio. Enter your business name, your name and your business email, then confirm the email Meta sends you.

What a business portfolio does

A business portfolio brings your Facebook Pages, Instagram accounts, Threads accounts, ad accounts, catalogs and other business assets together. You manage them, and the people who access them, from one place. Meta also asks for one to use Meta Business Suite, enroll in monthly invoicing, run ads about social issues, elections or politics, and verify your domain.

What you add What changes
Your Facebook Page Your business owns the Page. People who already managed it keep their access.
Your Instagram account If your Page is linked to it, Meta says to add it too.
Your ad account and Meta Pixel Ads, payments and measurement sit in the same place as the Page.
People from your team Each person gets access only to the portfolio and assets you choose.
An agency, as a partner It works on the assets you share from its own portfolio. Only the business that owns an asset can share it with another portfolio.

From the Meta Business Help Center, “About business portfolios” and “Add a Facebook Page to your business portfolio”, read November 2, 2026.

How to create a business portfolio

You need access to Meta Business Suite with your Facebook profile or a managed Meta account. Then, on a computer:

  1. Go to business.facebook.com and log in with your Facebook profile or your managed Meta account.
  2. Click the menu below Home, at the top left, and select Create a business portfolio.
  3. Enter the portfolio’s name. Meta asks for the public name of your business, without special characters, because it’s visible across Meta.
  4. If you logged in with your Facebook profile, enter your first and last name and your business email. Meta uses that email to contact you, and your customers don’t see it.
  5. Click Create, then confirm your business email from the message Meta sends you.

You can personally create up to 2 business portfolios, and there’s no limit on how many you can belong to. Once it’s created, you have full control of it. A new portfolio or ad account may not get every advertising feature at first: Meta grants some only after an advertiser meets certain requirements.

Add your Page and your Instagram account

In Meta Business Suite, go to Settings, click Pages under Accounts and select + Add. Choose Add an existing Facebook Page, enter the Page’s name or URL, accept the terms and select Add Page. Another person or business can’t already own the Page, and each business asset can only belong to one portfolio. If your Page is linked to an Instagram account, add that account too. It has its own section, Instagram accounts, in the same Settings. Log in to that Instagram account there before you assign it to anyone.

Your pixel and its events are covered in our guide on setting up the Meta Pixel and the Conversions API.

From the Meta Business Help Center, “Add a Facebook Page to your business portfolio” and “Add people to a business portfolio and assign a business asset”.

Add your team, and your agency as a partner

To add someone from your team, go to Settings, click People and then Invite people. Enter the email of their Facebook account, or pick their managed Meta account if your organization uses them. Then choose their portfolio permissions and the assets they’ll work on, and select Invite. They have to accept the invitation. By default, people get basic access when they’re added, so give each person only what their work needs.

To let an agency work on your assets, add it as a partner. In Settings, click Partners under Users, select Add and then Give a partner access to your assets. Enter the partner’s business portfolio ID, choose the assets and the level of access, and select Assign assets. The agency needs a business portfolio of its own. With full control of an asset it can manage everything, but it can’t share that asset with another business.

Only people with full control of the portfolio can add people or partners. To give someone access to one Page only, see our guide on how to add an admin to a Facebook Page.

From the Meta Business Help Center, “Add people to a business portfolio and assign a business asset” and “Give a partner access to business assets in your business portfolio”.

Keep it secure

Meta’s Security Center recommends these steps for a business portfolio:

  • Two people with full control. Meta recommends, without requiring it, 2 active people with full control. Sensitive actions then need a second approval, and someone else keeps top-level access if one account shows suspicious activity.
  • Two-factor authentication or passkeys. Remove people who haven’t set up either until they do.
  • Inactive people. Remove anyone who hasn’t logged into the portfolio in the past 90 days, especially with full control.
  • Full control. Limit it to the people who need it, ideally 10 or fewer.
  • Public email domains. Remove users whose email addresses aren’t related to your business.
  • Old ad accounts. Close the ones you no longer need, because bad actors target ad accounts that haven’t run ads within the last year.

From the Meta Business Help Center, “Best practices for making a business portfolio more secure”.

Find your portfolio ID, or delete the portfolio

Your business portfolio ID is in Settings, under Business portfolio info: it’s the number below the portfolio’s name. A partner may need it to give you access to its assets, such as a Meta Pixel.

To delete a portfolio, you need full control. Go to Settings, click Business info and select Permanently delete business. Remove any connected WhatsApp business profiles first. The deletion stays pending for 24 hours, and after that the portfolio can’t be reopened. Pages in it can move to another portfolio or back to the personal profile of the Page owner.

From the Meta Business Help Center, “Find your business portfolio ID” and “How do I delete my business portfolio in Meta Business Suite?”.

Before you share access

  • The portfolio carries your business’s public name.
  • Your Page, Instagram account and ad account are in your portfolio, not in someone else’s.
  • Two people you trust have full control, so one lost login doesn’t lock you out.
  • Everyone with access uses two-factor authentication or a passkey.
  • Your agency works as a partner from its own portfolio, not with a login of yours.
  • You know where to find your portfolio ID.

RememberKeep your Page, Instagram account and ad account in a business portfolio you control. Add your team as people and your agency as a partner, each with only the access it needs, and ask everyone to turn on two-factor authentication.

When the portfolio is ready, our guide on how to run Facebook ads takes you through the first campaign. If you want us to run your ads, see our Meta Ads service. You add us as a partner in your business portfolio, and the Page, the Instagram account and the ad account stay in your name.
