Short answer: An about us page tells visitors who runs the business, what it does and why they can trust it. Put a one or two paragraph summary at the top, then the people behind it, honest testimonials and how to reach you. Link it from your menu and your footer.

What an about us page is for

Google’s rater guidelines note that most websites have contact us, about us or about pages that say who owns the site. When raters judge whether a site can be trusted, they look at its About us page as a starting point.

Raters don’t rank pages: Google says their data is not used directly in its ranking algorithms and helps it confirm that its changes work. Its own guidance on helpful content asks whether a site gives background about who publishes it, such as through an About page.

Visitors ask the same questions. In a study with over 70 users and 100 websites, Nielsen Norman Group found that people expect About Us pages to be clear, authentic and transparent. They also check the business against review sites.

What to put on the page

Part What to put Why
Summary One or two short, scannable paragraphs at the top What NN/g suggests for the main About page
What you do A plain sentence on what you do and for whom Many sites leave visitors unable to tell
People The names and photos of the people behind it Google’s raters look for who runs a site
Reviews Honest, balanced testimonials Visitors compare them with review sites
Contact How to reach you Raters look for it, above all on sites that handle money

How to write an about us page

  1. Write one sentence on what you do and for whom, and put a shorter version on your home page.
  2. Open the page with one or two short paragraphs that expand on that sentence.
  3. Add the people behind the business, with their names and real photos.
  4. Explain where you started and how you work, without jargon.
  5. Add honest testimonials and link to the sites where customers review you.
  6. Say how to reach you: phone, email, a form or an address, whatever fits your business.
  7. Link the page from your main menu and your footer, with a plain label such as About us.

How our own about page is built

We read our Our story page on November 3, 2026, as a visitor, in English and Spanish. It runs about 600 words in five sections, from a year by year history to who you work with.

It names our two founders, Pedro Galindez and Rodrigo Martin, with their photos, and ends with a button to book a 20-minute call. It carries AboutPage structured data, and the home page links to it from both the header menu and the footer.

Our label is Our story rather than About us. It sits in the main menu and in the footer, the two places NN/g saw people look.

Before you publish your about page

  • The first lines say what you do and for whom.
  • The people behind the business appear with names and photos.
  • There are honest testimonials or links to your reviews.
  • Visitors can see how to reach you.
  • The page is linked from the main menu and the footer.
  • The link label is plain enough to find at a glance.

RememberSay what you do, who is behind it and how to reach you, at the top and in plain words.

Quick answers about about us pages

What should an about us page include?

A short summary of what you do and for whom, the people behind the business, how you work and where you started, honest testimonials and how to reach you. NN/g suggests one or two short, scannable paragraphs at the top and more detail below.

Does an about us page help SEO?

Not as a switch you turn on. Google’s guidance on helpful content asks whether a site gives background about who publishes it, such as through an About page. Its quality raters start their trust check on the About us page, and their ratings help Google confirm its systems work.

How long should an about us page be?

Long enough to say who you are, what you do and why people can trust you. NN/g suggests one or two short paragraphs at the top. A small business can put the rest, such as its history and team, below that summary.

Should I put reviews on my about us page?

Yes, honest and balanced ones. NN/g found that people compare what a business says about itself with review sites. In one round of its research, people used the word reviews over 40 times in 20 sessions.

Where should the about us link go?

In the main menu and in the footer. NN/g saw people scroll straight to the footer whenever the main navigation didn’t give them what they needed. Use a plain label, because people rarely click obscurely named links.
