Short answer: Meta business verification confirms to Meta that your business is real. You start it in the Security Center of Meta Business Suite, enter your legal details and confirm your connection by email, phone, text, WhatsApp or your domain. It unlocks some advertising, billing and spending features, but it doesn’t add a verified badge.
What Meta business verification is
Meta says owners of a business portfolio with full control can verify their business in Meta Business Suite. Verification is required to access certain advertising, developer, billing and spending features.
It is not Meta Verified. Meta Verified for businesses is a paid subscription with benefits like the verified badge, and verifying your business won’t give you that badge. Our guide to Meta Business Suite explains the tool where all of this happens.
What you need before you start
Your business portfolio has to be eligible, and you need full control of it, the highest permission level. If you can’t open the Security Center, Meta says you may not have full control. If you are still setting up the portfolio, start with our Business Manager guide.
Have your legal business name, address, phone number and website ready, exactly as your legal business entity shows them. Your website must load and be HTTPS compliant, with an address that starts with https://; our SSL certificate guide covers that part.
If you pay for ads with monthly invoicing, Meta says you don’t need to submit documents. You fill out the form with your credit line information instead.
How you confirm your connection
After your details, Meta asks you to confirm your connection to the business by email, phone, text message, WhatsApp message or domain verification. If no record matches your details, you can choose that your business isn’t listed and upload official documents, such as a business license.
Domain verification proves you own your business’s website, and Meta says it is free. You need admin or developer access to the domain, and you enter the root domain without any prefix, such as website.com.
| Domain method | What you do | Where |
|---|---|---|
| Meta tag | Paste the tag Meta gives you into the home page code | The <head> section of your home page |
| HTML file | Upload Meta’s file and confirm in Meta Business Suite | Your web directory |
| DNS TXT record | Add the TXT entry Meta gives you | Your domain’s DNS records |

The DNS option needs access to your domain’s records; our guide to DNS explains what those records are.
Why a submission gets rejected
Meta lists reasons such as false or misleading information, claiming a business portfolio you don’t own or can’t represent, and trying to get around its review. A website that fails to load, isn’t HTTPS compliant or links to an error message also counts.
If your submission is rejected, Meta says you may be eligible to appeal from the Security Center or from the platform where you started, such as Commerce Manager.

Meta only asks for them when it can’t match your details to a record. In that case it may ask you to upload official documents, such as a business license or articles of incorporation.
Why was my business verification rejected?
Meta lists reasons such as false or misleading information and a website that fails to load, isn’t HTTPS compliant or links to an error message. You may be able to appeal from the Security Center.
Do I have to verify again if I change my business details?
Yes. Meta says that if you edit your business details, you need to complete the verification process again. Make the changes before you start whenever you can.
