Short answer: Reserve with Google puts a booking option on your Business Profile through a partner provider. You can also add your own booking link instead. Either way, the link has to open a page where people can actually book, and Google’s link checker has to be able to reach it.

Reserve with Google or your own booking link

With a booking provider that works with Reserve with Google, you sign it up from your profile and your bookings run through it. Google warns that the provider might charge you, so check the price first.

Your own booking link points to a page you already have, such as the calendar on your website. Google lets you add it under Booking, and you keep the booking tool you already use.

How to add your own booking link

Google’s steps start from your Business Profile. On Google Search, select Booking. On Google Maps, select Edit profile and then Booking. Select Add link, or Add another link if you already have one, enter the URL and select Save.

If you have more than one booking link, select Set preferred link and choose one. Google shows it at the top of your links, marked “Business preferred.”

What Google checks in a booking link

Your business must be verified before you can add a link. The link must lead to a dedicated page for your business, and a business with several locations needs a page for each location.

The page must let people complete the booking. Google doesn’t accept social media sites, messaging links, app store links or link shorteners. It also allows one link per domain, so a domain your business or a provider already uses can’t be added again.

Google checks business links daily at most and may remove the ones its tools can’t crawl. Its crawler, Google-BusinessLinkVerification, doesn’t follow robots.txt rules. Your site must not block it, rate limit it, or ask it for a CAPTCHA or a login. The page must answer with a 200 status or a similar success code.

How to set up a booking button that works

  1. Verify your Business Profile first.
  2. Decide between a Reserve with Google provider and your own booking page.
  3. If you choose a provider, compare what it charges before you sign up.
  4. If you use your own page, link straight to the page with the calendar, not to your home page.
  5. Add the link under Booking and save it.
  6. Open the link in a private window and check you can book without logging in.
  7. Make sure your firewall or bot protection doesn’t block Google-BusinessLinkVerification.

How our own booking link works

Our own Business Profile has a booking link of its own, with no provider. It points to our booking page with three UTM tags, so analytics can tell those visits apart from the rest: utm_source=google, utm_medium=organic and utm_campaign=gbp.

On November 4, 2026 we opened that link twice, once as a regular browser and once as Google’s link checker, Google-BusinessLinkVerification. Both got a 200 status and the same page, byte for byte, with no redirect and no CAPTCHA.

In a browser, the calendar loads on the page itself. A visitor who follows the booking link on our profile picks a day and a time there, without opening anything else.

Before you add a booking link

  • Your Business Profile is verified.
  • The link opens a page where people can book.
  • It isn’t a social media, messaging or shortened link.
  • The page loads without a login or a CAPTCHA.
  • Bot protection lets Google’s link checker in.
  • You know what a provider would charge.

RememberA booking button only helps if the page behind it lets people book. Point it at your calendar, and keep that page open to Google’s link checker.

Quick answers about booking on Google

What is Reserve with Google?

Google’s name for booking through partner providers. If you use one of its providers, your bookings show up on your Business Profile. Google adds that the provider might charge you, so check with the provider first.

Can I add my own booking link instead of using a provider?

Yes. Google lets you add your own link to your Business Profile under Booking. Keep in mind that Google doesn’t show booking performance data for custom links, as it does through Reserve with Google.

Why can’t I add a booking link to my profile?

Your business must be verified first. Google also rejects links with spaces, backslashes or a doubled protocol. It doesn’t take a domain you already used for another link, nor links to social media, messaging apps, app stores or link shorteners.

How long does a booking provider take to appear on my profile?

Google says booking providers show up on your Business Profile within a week. A link you add yourself goes live once your profile is verified and Google approves the edit.

Does my booking page need to be indexed by Google?

Google’s link policy asks that its link checker can reach the page, not that the page appears in search results. Its crawler Google-BusinessLinkVerification ignores robots.txt and needs a page that answers with a 200 status.
