Your right to opt out
California gives residents the right to stop a business from selling or sharing their personal information. The right comes from the California Consumer Privacy Act, as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act (CPRA). Those laws apply to businesses above certain size thresholds, which Feedback Studios does not meet today. We follow the same rule by choice. The right is yours to use whenever you want, and using it costs you nothing.
When you opt out, we do not stop being able to serve you. The law is clear that a business cannot charge you a different price, give you a worse service, or deny you anything because you said no to selling and sharing. The only thing that changes is that the data flows tied to advertising stop.
Plain version: tell us to stop, and we stop. No fee, no penalty, no worse treatment. You can also opt back in later if you change your mind.
What sale and sharing actually mean
These two words have specific meanings under the law, and they are wider than most people expect. You do not have to be paid, and we do not have to be paid, for something to count.
| Term | What it covers | Everyday example |
|---|---|---|
| Sale | Giving personal information to a third party in exchange for money or something else of value. | Handing a contact list to a data broker for payment. |
| Sharing | Disclosing personal information to a third party for cross-context behavioral advertising, even with no money involved. | An ad pixel that lets a platform retarget you on other sites after you visit ours. |
Here is the honest picture for Feedback Studios. We do not sell your information for money. We do run a normal marketing site, so we use cookies and tags from advertising and analytics partners. Some of those, like a retargeting pixel, can meet the legal definition of sharing for cross-context behavioral advertising. When you opt out, we turn off that sharing for your browser or your record. The details of every tag we run are listed in our cookie policy.
How to submit a request
You have two ways to opt out, and you do not need to create an account for any of them.
- Email. Write to info@feedback-studios.com with the subject line Do Not Sell or Share, and include the email you use with us.
- A browser signal. Turn on a Global Privacy Control in your browser or extension and we treat it as an opt-out for that browser. See section 7.
If you have used more than one email with us, list each one so we can match every record. The more precise you are, the cleaner we can make the opt-out.
Authorized agents
You can ask another person or a registered business to file the request for you. We call that person an authorized agent. A privacy service or a family member, for example, can act as one.
To protect your data, we may ask the agent to show written permission signed by you. We may also ask you directly to confirm that you gave the agent authority and to verify your own identity. This step exists so that nobody can switch off the protection on your account without your say-so. We will not use anything you send for verification for any other purpose.
Verification
For a plain opt-out from sale or sharing, the law does not require us to verify your identity, because the request is low risk. Most of the time, the name and email you give us are enough to find and stop the right data flow.
Sometimes we need one more detail to be sure we are stopping the right person’s data, especially if the name is common or the email does not match a record. In that case we will email you to confirm a small piece of information. We ask for the least we can, we use it only to handle this request, and we delete it once the request is closed.
Note: deletion and access requests are different. Because those touch more sensitive actions, they need stronger identity checks. Section 8 explains how to make them.
Timelines and what we do
Once we receive your opt-out request, we act as soon as we reasonably can. We hold ourselves to 15 business days, the same deadline the CPRA sets for the businesses it covers. Here is the sequence.
- We log your request and send you a short confirmation that we got it.
- We match your email or browser to the records and ad tags we hold.
- We switch off the sale and sharing tied to that record, and we tell our advertising and analytics partners to stop as well.
- We keep you opted out until you choose to opt back in. We will not ask you to repeat the request without a real reason.
If we cannot act on a request, for example because we genuinely cannot identify you, we will tell you why and what would help. You will never be left guessing.
Global Privacy Control
You do not have to fill in a form for every site you visit. The Global Privacy Control, or GPC, is a setting in some browsers and extensions that sends an opt-out signal automatically to every site that honors it. We honor it.
When your browser sends a GPC signal, we read it as a valid request to stop selling and sharing the personal information linked to that browser. It works on its own, with no extra step from you. If you want the opt-out to follow your account across devices too, send us your email through the form so we can tie it to your record, not just one browser.
To confirm the rules behind all of this, you can read the official guidance from the California Attorney General on the CCPA and your right to opt out of sale or sharing.
Your other privacy rights
Opting out of sale and sharing is one of several rights you have. The others work on a different timeline and usually need a stronger identity check, because they touch the data itself.
| Right | What you can ask for | Our timeline |
|---|---|---|
| Know / access | A copy of the personal information we hold about you and how we use it. | Within 45 days, extendable to 90 with notice. |
| Delete | Removal of the personal information we hold, with some legal exceptions. | Within 45 days, extendable to 90 with notice. |
| Correct | A fix to personal information that is wrong. | Within 45 days, extendable to 90 with notice. |
| Limit sensitive data | A cap on how we use sensitive personal information. | As soon as feasible, up to 15 business days. |
To use any of these, email info@feedback-studios.com or read the full detail in our privacy policy. If you are a business client and we process data on your behalf, our data processing agreement sets out who does what.
