Florida’s price rule
What Florida bans once a state of emergency is declared
When the Governor declares a state of emergency, Florida makes it unlawful to sell or rent essential commodities at an unconscionable price in the declared area. The ban covers offers to sell or rent, not only sales.
Essential means needed as a direct result of the emergency: supplies, services, provisions and equipment, plus the homes and self-storage people need.
The test looks back 30 days. A price with a gross disparity from the average of the 30 days before the declaration is evidence of price gouging, unless added costs or market trends explain the increase.
For storms, the Attorney General’s office lists food, water, ice, gas, lodging and lumber, and services such as tree removal, water remediation and roof repair. Offering goods and services to the public without a business tax receipt during the emergency is a second-degree misdemeanor.
The rule lasts up to 60 days under the first declaration, and an executive order can extend it. Florida treats a violation as a breach of its Deceptive and Unfair Trade Practices Act.

Google and Meta
During a disaster, both platforms tighten their ad rules
Google treats natural disasters and civil emergencies as sensitive events, and it may take a variety of actions while one lasts. Its policy bans price gouging, inflated prices that restrict access to vital supplies, and keywords about the event used to pull in traffic.
Where and when Google shows an ad in Miami, from ZIP codes to call hours, is on our Google Ads page:
Google Ads in MiamiOn Facebook and Instagram, Meta’s Advertising Standards do not allow ads that exploit crises for commercial purposes, and natural disasters are among them. Its examples include ads that exploit a crisis to sell vital supplies, imply urgency or use language that may contribute to panic or fear.

What every Florida ad answers to, storm or not

On what is unfair or deceptive, the act gives great weight to the interpretations of the Federal Trade Commission and the federal courts. A person on our team reads every claim in your ads before any of them spends.

- $15,000.00the highest when it victimizes someone 60 or older, or a person with a disability

Your plan
One plan for Google and Meta, or one platform
Starter covers one platform, Google or Meta: 2 campaigns at most and 8 new ads a month, 2 of those in video. Tracking comes set up, and a summary reaches your WhatsApp every week.
With Growth, Google and Meta run in one plan, so when a storm comes, one review covers your ads on both platforms.
On Pro, we also come to your business in Miami-Dade every quarter for a half-day of photos and video.
Ad spend goes from your card to Google and Meta, never through us. Plans have a 3-month minimum, then run month to month, and you leave with 30 days’ notice in writing.

Questions about paid ads in hurricane season
What does a PPC agency cost in Miami?
With us, Starter costs $1,250.00 a month plus a $500.00 setup, for one platform: Google or Meta. The fee covers up to $5,000.00 a month in ad spend, and above that we charge 10% of the excess. You pay the platforms for the ads. We give you the Growth and Pro prices on the call.
Can I raise the prices in my ads after a hurricane?
During a declared state of emergency, Florida bans unconscionable prices for essential goods and services in the declared area. A price that grossly exceeds the average of the 30 days before is evidence of it, unless higher costs or market trends explain the increase. The price is your decision, and your ads show only what you approve.
Should my ads stop when a storm is coming?
Only the ones you can’t serve. If the office closes or the phones go down, we pause those ads or cut their hours, and we keep the ones you can still answer. Leads keep reaching your WhatsApp or email as they arrive, so you decide which jobs to take.
Does Florida’s deceptive practices law cover Google and Meta ads?
Florida’s Deceptive and Unfair Trade Practices Act declares unfair or deceptive acts in any trade or commerce unlawful. It defines trade or commerce as advertising, soliciting, providing, offering or distributing goods or services, among other things, and an ad on Google or Meta is advertising. Each willful violation can cost up to $10,000.00.
Can one plan run Google and Meta at the same time?
Yes, Growth does. It runs both platforms, tracks calls as well as forms and WhatsApp taps, and builds a landing page during setup. Its fee covers up to $10,000.00 a month in ad spend. Starter covers one platform. We give you the Growth price on the call.
